Mueller Water Products said it is cutting 35 salaried and management jobs as part of a restructuring that will save about $7 million annually.
The Atlanta maker of water meters, fire hydrants, couplings and other parts for handling water also said its chief financial officer, Evan Hart, is retiring at the end of the year.
“By restructuring the organization around value streams, we intend to increase our customer focus, accelerate product innovation and become more efficient,” said Mueller Chief Executive Scott Hall. “We strongly believe that de-layering the organization with a new emphasis on product life-cycle management and profitability will streamline decision-making and promote collaboration throughout the organization.”
The company, which has about 3,900 employees, said it expects the reorganization to result in about $11 million in restructuring charges. Mueller said it will begin re-tooling operations immediately.
