While everyone is rushing to criticize or support comedian Steve Harvey for his gaffe heard around the universe, at least one man thinks maybe it wasn't such a big mistake after all.
Harvey, as most people know by now, announced the wrong winner during Sunday's Miss Universe pageant, resulting in the crowning of Miss Colombia instead of the rightful winner, Miss Philippines.
He immediately apologized, the crown was transferred and Harvey took to social media with apologies as well. Harvey then did the rounds today, offering up an explanation of his mistake -- he just read the card wrong.
But Harvey Levin, founder of celebrity gossip website TMZ, has his doubts.
Appearing Monday on Fox 5 Good Day Atlanta (the station which aired the pageant) , Levin said, "This seems a little weird to me...Maybe I'm just a skeptical guy, but this is the best publicity this pageant could ever get."
Levin went on to state that Harvey is an experienced television host with a talk show and a game show. He's a pro, said Levin, and pageants are pretty basic stuff.
The result of this mistake, Levin said, is that Harvey and the Miss Universe pageant have become one of the biggest news stories of the day.
