'Real Housewives of Atlanta' Sheree Whitfield says: I'm not broke!

Sheree Whitfield of Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta takes to the latest issue of In Touch magazine to dismiss rumors about her financial situation.

Whitfield, an original cast member who has returned to the show as a "friend" for Season 8 , was accused by fellow cast member Kenya Moore of not being able to afford renovations on her mansion, Chateau Sheree. The mansion, has been a work in progress for five years.

“The whole world pretty much hit a crisis; I don’t think I was the only one who hit a financial wall,” Whitfield told In Touch magazine.  “But I’m still living the same lifestyle, fortunately,” she adds. “I don’t spend recklessly. Trust me: If I’m buying X, Y and Z, I can afford it!”

This sounds like a little bit of a different spin on things based on what we learned last month when an Atlanta contractor sued Sheree for unpaid bills of about $15,450 and asked for $23,000 after late fees and other charges.

Whitfield went on to say she rejoined the show this season because the time was right. She is headed for empty nester status (her youngest daughter is in 11th grade) and felt like she had more time.

She also said she missed the camaraderie with the other women, which is interesting considering "camaraderie" is not really a selling point of the show, but hey...

Whitfield says of the cat fights, “You gotta take the good with the bad.”
