Nina Dobrev leaves 'Vampire Diaries,' celebrates on Lake Lanier

Nina Dobrev announced last night on Instagram that she's leaving the CW show "The Vampire Diaries," and fans think it bites. The actress posted a photo of herself and series creator Julie Plec on Instagram, explaining that she always saw her time on the show as a "six season adventure":

The show, which airs the final episode of its sixth season in May 2015, has filmed in and around Covington since its debut, which set a record for the CW at the time. The show has remained popular, with a "Vampire Diaries" convention held in March in Atlanta. A spinoff, "The Originals," also films in Georgia. Dobrev posted several photos of herself, cast and crew members partying on the boat on Lake Lanier as part of her "goodbye party," including one as a tribute to production assistant Sarah Jones, who worked on the show before being killed on the set of the now-scrapped Gregg Allman biopic "Midnight Rider."

Dobrev starred in the shot-in-Atlanta film "Let's Be Cops" and appeared in the 2015 film "The Final Girls."
