How to celebrate International Day of Happiness in Atlanta

March 20 is the International Day of Happiness according to the United Nations Assembly.

And according to most research out there, the happier you are, the better your life. Happy people have better marriages, are more successful, healthy, wealthy and they live longer.

Since 50 percent of your potential for happiness is determined by genetics, you had better get moving on the other 50 percent -- 10 percent is life circumstances and 40 percent is up to you.

If you are more of a doer, this weekend you can sign a Happiness Wall at Atlantic Station or Andretti Karting.

If you're more of a thinker, settle in with the newly released " Live Happy: Ten Practices for Choosing Joy," by Deborah K. Heisz (Harper Elixir, $26) .

Both the wall and the book come courtesy of Live Happy Magazine, the first magazine dedicated to helping you achieve true happiness.

Live Happy, the book, is organized around the ten key practices of a happy life. It features stories from celebrities, thought leaders and everyday people, who demonstrate how easy it is to take small, simple steps toward a life filled with happiness.

Happy Acts are little tips that help readers immediately find ways to bring more joy into their lives such as taking gratitude walks, asking for help, and making one positive choice today. When it comes to happiness, this book is proof, little things can mean a lot.
