Health-care reform is sure to be a hot topic in the remaining presidential debates which take place Oct. 9 and Oct. 19.
Donald Trump says he plans to repeal the Affordable Care Act (aka Obamacare) though his campaign has not articulated their views or stated if they would offer an alternative.
The national uninsured rate is at a record low of 8.6 percent, according to the National Health Interview Survey conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But the numbers vary wildly from one state to the next.
Georgia is one of the states with the highest rate of uninsured residents, according to a new survey from Wallethub.com .
Compared to the other states, Georgia does somewhat better with children (ages 0-17.)
Only 6.65% of children in the state are uninsured -- a rank of 38 out of the 50 states.
But among adults, a full 16.24% of Georgia residents are uninsured for a rank of 48.
Experts suggest that the number of uninsured residents will fall as individuals file their taxes in 2017 and experience the penalty for being uninsured which reached its highest level in 2016 and will continue to increase over time.
