Chipotle live tweets company meeting to win back customers

Not that you were planning to go to Chipotle for lunch today, but just in case, Chipotle restaurants will be closed today for a company-wide meeting.

All locations will re-open at 3 p.m. local time.

The meeting is to address the company's ongoing issues with the E. coli outbreak that began last summer. The first outbreak surfaced in October when 55 people in 11 states were infected with E. Coli. A second, smaller outbreak surfaced in December infecting five people in three states with a different strain of the virus.

Last week, the CDC closed the investigation, noting that they were unable to identify which specific food or ingredient was responsible for the outbreak.

Chipotle had floundered as the investigation dragged on and the company stock plummeted.

At one point, a company executive blamed the CDC and the media for all the hype .

Today, in the interest of open and honest communication, the company has said it will live tweet the company meeting and will broadcast on Periscope at noon.

Chipotle has already made some changes to food handling and preparation and in December, full-page advertisements ran in newspapers nationwide with an apology from founder Steve Ells and an outline of the new food safety procedures.
