Here are some highlights from top teams and performers in GHSA lacrosse:
Boys
• The Centennial Knights - ranked No. 1 in Class AAAAAA - beat Region 3 opponent South Forsyth 15-1 on Thursday to improve to 6-0 overall, all region games. Junior Austin Skorb had 10 saves at goal and attackers Nathan Solomon, Ryan Carvin and Brendan Spence each scored three goals. Senior midfielder Cole Woodward finished with 11 ground balls, also scoring a goal; senior midfielder Alex Prescott had 9 ground balls and 2 goals; senior defenseman Jake Sadd had 5 ground balls and 5 forced turnovers; freshman midfielder Austin Wise was 7-of-13 in faceoffs and scored a goal. Solomon leads the Knights with 29 goals and 28 assists and they're outscoring opponents 101-17 this season.
• The Harrison Hoyas downed North Paulding 18-5 to move to 8-0 on the season. They're 1-0 in Region 1-AAAAAA and are the state's No. 2-ranked team. They're off to a strong start this season with wins over Westmisnter (ranked No. 1 in AAAAA-A) and Walton (No. 6 in AAAAAA) and Etowah (No. 8, AAAAAA). The Hoyas are led by sophomore attacker Zach Danneman's 15 goals and 11 assists. Junior midfielder Lucas Wittenberg and junior attacker Alex Mowry each have 12 goals. Senior face off get off Brandon Galgon is 89-of-136 in face offs, good for a 65-percent win average. Senior goalie Mitchell Barnes, a three-year starter, has 50 saves. The defense as a whole is giving up an average of just four goals a game despite the difficult early schedule.
Girls
• The Northview Lady Titans are ranked No. 2 in AAAAA-A and are 7-2 overall with a 2-0 in Region 3 play. They recently played in Jacksonville, Fla. where they beat Nease 14-2 and lost to Bartram Trail 18-7. They also lost to Centennial - ranked No. 6 in AAAAAA - this week by a score of 11-7, which could cause them to slip in the rankings. Their leaders this week were sophomore attacker Colleen O'Connell, freshman attacker Sophie Kopec, junior midfielder Amber Scales and senior defenseman/midfielder Alexa Rivard. On the week, O'Connell had 7 draw controls, 3 ground balls, 1 forced turnover, 5 goals and 8 assists; Kopec finished with 9 draw controls, 4 ground balls, 1 forced turnover, 3 goals and 8 assists; Scales had 5 draws, 5 ground balls, 1 forced turnover, 3 goals and an assist; Rivard had 5 ground balls, 3 forced turnovers and 2 goals. O'Connell and Kopec lead the Lady Titans with 23 goals apiece.
• AAAAAA's No. 1-ranked Milton Lady Eagles defeated No. 4 Walton 18-8 on Tuesday in Region 2 play thanks to a Lady Eagles streak of consecutive goals midway through the first half that stretched the lead to 12-5 going into halftime. The Lady Eagles improved to 5-1 and 4-0 in Region 2. Nine Lady Eagles scored and seven of those goals were assisted. Jessi Masinko had 3 goals, 3 assists and 2 interceptions; Brooke Winsness led the scoring with 4 goals and Shapar Mirza collected 14 saves.
