All-region basketball: 5-A’s top honors go to Rhodes, Oden, Hubbard, Jones


Region 5-A, the Georgia region with the most top-10 basketball teams, announced its all-region teams this week.

Players of the year are Lamar Oden of Southwest Atlanta Christian (subregion north boys), Malachi Rhodes of Eagle’s Landing Christian (south boys), Kaila Hubbard of Holy Innocents' (north girls) and Morgan Jones of Our Lady of Mercy (south girls).

The region has four ranked girls teams (No. 1 Holy Innocents, No. 3 Wesleyan, No. 4 Our Lady of Mercy and No. 10 Eagle’s Landing Christian) and four ranked boys teams (No. 2 Eagle’s Landing Christian, No. 5 Greenforest Christia, No. 7 Holy Innocents’ and No. 10 Wesleyan).

The region tournament began this week and finishes up starting Wednesday at Holy Innocents’.
